CDI Premier League semifinals April 25, UVic Vikes men’s rugby vs. Capilano RFC. 2:45 p.m. Wallace Field

Following the excitement of the Women’s Rugby Sevens this past weekend at Westhills, the University of Victoria’s Wallace Field hosts one of the CDI Premier League semifinals this Saturday, April 25. No. 2-seeded UVic Vikes men’s rugby team hosts the No. 3 Capilano RFC at 2:45 p.m. UBC plays Burnaby in the other semifinal.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, $3 for children 7 to 12, and free for kids six-and-under.

In Premier Baseball League action this weekend, the Victoria Eagles host the visiting Whalley Chiefs Saturday, April 25 and the North Delta Blue Jays Sunday. The Eagles are 5-3 on the season and come into the weekend series hoping for a sweep to keep them in the top of the league standings. Saturday games go at 12 and 2:30 p.m. with Sunday’s at 11 a.m. and 1:20 p.m.

Meanwhile the Victoria Mariners will swap opponents with the Eagles as the M’s play the Blue Jays on Saturday, and Whalley Sunday. First pitch is 1 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Anyone wishing to help young players in need cover the costs of pursuing baseball can donate to the Roy Moretti Legacy Fund through the Victoria Eagles and the Moretti Family. Tbe Claremont Spartans host two teams for Week 6 of senior girls high school rugby action, playing Reynolds and Mount Douglas on May 1. Spectrum joins Esquimalt and Stelly’s at Windsor Park against host Oak Bay High, 3 p.m. May 1.

There are four games on the senior boys schedule for April 30, including the Reynolds Rogues hosting the Glenlyon Norfolk Gryphons, Spectrum Thunder vs. Belmont Bulldogs and St. Michaels Blue Jags hosting Stelly’s.

The senior high school badminton season is winding dow with Oak Bay visiting SMUS on Tuesday. April 28. League playoffs follow Thursday, at a location still to be determined.

On the AAA high school tennis courts, Claremont faces Reynolds at Lambrick Park courts Wednesday, April 29, while Mt. Doug visits Stelly’s. In AA play, SMUS faces GNS at Henderson Park, also April 29. Henderson will host the AAA playoffs May 11 and 12, while Brentwood  college hosts the AA playoffs.

Wednesday, April 29 is the final regular season competitionfor for Lower Island track and field league at UVic’s Centennial Stadium.

The 2015 Lower Island city track and field championships are May 6 at Centennial, with thowing events at Lambrick Park on May 4.
