John Garvie flushed 35 points as the VSS Panthers grounded the Okanagan Mission Huskies 83-57 in North Zone senior AAA boys basketball Tuesday night at the Panther Pit.

The Cats improved to 4-1 as they erased an early 20-15 Huskie lead and led 38-34 at the break.

Chris Inscho drained 14 points for the Panthers, while Shelby Hartwig and Mitchell Pepper each rung up 11.

In senior AA girls exhibition action Wednesday night, the Fulton Maroons brushed back the Charles Bloom Timberwolves 62-52.

Brittany Skrenek bottled up 32 points for the Maroons, while Lee Richardson sank 10 and AJ Jacura netted eight.

“Brittany Skrenek had a great game and scored our highest point total of the year,” said Fulton coach Mike Scheller. “She attacked the basket and went a great 13-for-16 from the foul line. She was a force rebounding as well. AJ Jacura is doing a great job at point guard and is seeing the floor very well. Erin Sakamoto was a buzzsaw on defence, She secures a lot of 50-50 loose balls for us. Versatile Shelby Hughes is a big asset.”

Fulton opens the North Zone playoffs tonight at 5:45 against Pleasant Valley.
