Gals find numbers down on golf course

Ladies Night Golf at Chinook Cove Golf Resort by Leslie Stirling

By Leslie Stirling

The fine folks at the Star/Journal are probably cursing me…again.  Here it is Sunday evening and I am just finishing up the report for last Tuesday’s (May 10) Ladies Night.

I keep thinking that things will be better when Bob is healthy and life gets back to normal.  I must change that way of thinking because in the words of a dear friend “normal is just a setting on the dryer”.

Tuesday was a beautiful evening but for some reason many of our regulars were away.  It could be that the spring cold (nose not weather) making the rounds stopped some from showing up and we all know spring is a busy time for those with children still in school.  Whatever the reason, we missed them and we were down to 27 for the day.

Sponsors for the low net/low gross prizes were Interior Savings Credit Union, Armour Mountain Office Supplies, Hub International and Royal LePage/Westwin.  Flight 1 winners were Marion Wallace (low gross) and Fiona Clare (low net).  Flight 2 winners were Cathy Theriault (low gross) and Evelyn Lucas (low net).  Jean Webber (low gross) and Babes Shanko (low net) won for Flight 3.  Barb Smith had low gross for Flight 4 and Joanne Lyle had second low gross.

Most of the ladies had a hard time hitting the green from the tee box on holes 4 and 6.  KP prizes went to Fiona Clare (Carl’s Market Garden), Leslie Stirling (Campbell & Co), Babes Shanko (EBL Ventures) and Marion Wallace (Ron Wallace Trucking).  I sure hope Marion remembers to thank the sponsor.

Goodie bags courtesy of Barb and Carman Smith went to all the ladies that drove their balls into the gully on Hole 7.

Darlene Nickull (high) and Marion Wallace (low) received put prizes from Stamer Logging and MJB Lawyers.

Fiona Clare picked up the birdie pot.

Long Drives earned prizes for Betty Foote (Barriere A&W), Joanne Lyle (Barriere Timber Mart), Trudy Forsythe (Crystlee’s Hair Design), Vicki Hoffer (Country Store Antiques), Marion Wallace (Knight’s Inn), Cathy Theriault (Pottery by Ramona), Linda Ransome (Rainer Custom Cutting), and Lindsay Arcand (Sam’s Pizza).

Prizes for long putts went to Leslie Stirling (Estylo Hair Design) and Darlene Nickull (Barriere Massage).

Fiona Clare had a KP in 2 on Hole 7 to win the Station House Restaurant certificate.  Her partner, Linda Ransome won the Blue Jar Coffee Bar & Bistro prize for landing closest to the tree on the same hole.

Donna Salle was the only person to land in the sand traps on Hole 8 and took home the Val Bella Studio prize.

Joanne Lyle landed closest to the 150 marker on Hole 9 to win the gift from AG Foods.

And as the New York Times would say that is “all the news that is fit to print” … at least from me.  Hope you have a good week and I am hoping to see you at the golf course.
