Chilliwack will once again be home two B.C. hockey camps for elite-level players this summer.
The Chilliwack Coliseum announced that BC Hockey will host the Program of Excellence (POE) provincial camps in Chilliwack for the 2024 season.
The female U18 camp runs July 25-28, and the male U16 camp will take place July 29 to Aug. 1.
“We are thrilled that BC Hockey decided to return to Chilliwack after they moved the camps here last summer,” said Barry Douglas, vice-president of business operations at the Chilliwack Coliseum. “It just shows that the community of Chilliwack continues to step up and come together when we are fortunate enough to host these types of events.”
The camp participants will compete to make the female U18 POE team and the male U16 POE team.
“We are excited to return to the Chilliwack Coliseum for our Program of Excellence camps this summer,” said Brianna Davey, vice president, member services – minor and female for BC Hockey. “The Coliseum has served us well in the past, and we look forward to another successful event.”
At each camp, the invitees will be split into four teams. Over each four-day period, the teams will participate in a variety of on- and off-ice sessions, including intra-squad games and practices.
Notable program alums include Mathew Barzal, Duncan Keith, Sarah Potomak, Morgan Rielly, Shea Theodore, Micah Zandee-Hart, and many more.
The camp will be open for the public to come and watch these future hockey stars. The full schedule will be released closer to the event date.
