(Retired R.C.M.P. Staff (Sgt)

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Willy Olsen on April 13th, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 18th, 1937. His family immigrated to Manitoba, Canada in 1948. In 1962 Willy married the love of this life, Helen, who he leaves to mourn his passing as well as 4 daughters, 3 son-in-laws and 6 grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. He also leaves 2 brothers, 1 sister, 2 brother-in-laws and 3 sister-in-laws and their families.

Willy enjoyed his career of 30 years with the R.C.M.P. in Saskatchewan. He also was an active member of the Gideons International of Canada for 30 years. His faith in God was a great inspiration in his life and an encouragement to his family and friends. As a husband, Dad, Grandfather and Friend, he will be missed immensely – ’till we meet again.

A special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses on the 6th floor Palliative Care Unit at Peace Arch Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. If you wish, you may send a donation the The Cancer Research Society or The Gideons International of Canada in Willy’s memory.
