In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep, deep sadness that the family of William (Bill) Inman announces his passing on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the age of 91. Bill passed peacefully with his family by his side. Bill was the eleventh of thirteen children of Walter Inman Sr. and Florence (Cook).
He is survived by his brother Dan Inman, his five children, Gail van Berlo (Wil), Sandra Inman (Tom Haley), and Judy Reimer (Mike). Glenn Inman and Sherry Ogilvie (Bruce), along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Bill was predeceased by his father Walter, mother Florence, wife Mildred, great-grandson Ryder, three brothers, eight sisters, and son-in-law Gord Schnell.
Bill was born and raised in Fort William, Ontario, and there he met his wife-to-be Mildred Kine when they were both very young. Bill proposed to Mildred when he took her on a romantic visit to Kakabeka Falls and they married on October 17, 1950.
Bill, Mildred and their five children packed up and moved to Cranbrook in 1968 when Bill received a job at the Skookumchuck Pulp Mill, where he worked until his retirement.
Bill dedicated thirty-seven years to being an active member of the Cranbrook Lions Club. During that time he held many positions Convention Chairperson, Zone Chairperson, Vice District Governor and District Governor. He was also awarded Melvin Jones Fellowship and International Understanding.
Bill was a very giving individual and deeply cared about other people and always put their needs first. He was a loving family man and a good friend to many. Bill always enjoyed all the time he could spend with them. He was always smiling and had a gift for making all feel welcome. The world has lost a generous, kind and caring soul.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honour Bill on September 16 at McPherson’s Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cranbrook Lions Club, P.O. Box 225, Cranbrook, B.C. V1C 4H8. Or you can donate to the charity of your choice in Bill’s honour.
