Wilfred Cure, known to his friends as Willy, passed away on August 2, 2023, at the age of 70 in Terrace, B.C. He was born on May 8, 1953, in Alert Bay, B.C. Willy was a kind and generous neighbor, always available to lend a helping hand.
Despite the extreme pain he endured from a logging accident in 1977, Willy never let it hinder his willingness to assist others.
Willy had a passion for fly fishing and was considered an extraordinary fly fisherman. He loved spending time on the banks of the Skeena River, dipping a line with his friends from near and far. Willy's love for nature extended to planning successful fall hunting trips with his friend Travis, resulting in full freezers of moose, deer, and bear.
He spent many long hours tying beautiful flies, so many he could never hope to use them all or even a small portion of them, as his friends can attest!
He will be dearly missed by his family, including his spouse Kathy, son Shawn, and granddaughter Sadie, as well as numerous immediate family members.
Willy is predeceased by his son Jeremy, father Ronaldo, mother Greta, and brother Jerry.
Willy's faith was an important part of his life, and he worshipped the Lord with all his heart. It brings me great joy and solace to know that he has found eternal peace and is no longer in pain.
A celebration of Willy's life will be held at Thornhill Community Church at 11:00 am on October 2, 2023. All of his many friends are invited to come and celebrate the life of this exceptional man.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hearing Hearts Ministries, a cause close to Willy's heart.
May Willy and his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
