May 17, 1952 - June 23, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Wayne's sudden passing on June 23, 2024.
Born in Victoria, BC, on May 17, 1952, alongside his twin sister Barb, Wayne spent his childhood and early adult years in Victoria, BC. Wayne later met Lynn, whom he married in 1983. They welcomed their first daughter, Andrea, in 1985 and then moved their family to Terrace in 1987, inspired by the transition of his business from gravel truck operations to logging. In Terrace, they grew their family and welcomed their second daughter, Jamie, in 1987, and son, David in 1990.
Wayne's passions in life were his family, classic cars, warm weather, live music, working hard, spending time with friends, and listening to classic rock. He was always game to do and try anything with his family. Most recently, he eagerly agreed to take part in a multi-day hiking adventure through the Scottish Highlands where he conquered the West Highland Way with his daughter, son, and son-in-law. Wayne had many plans and excitement for adventures into retirement, especially around spending time with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife, Lynn. He took pride in the projects he completed at his home and cabin at Lakelse Lake. He considered his life a gift and lived it fully, although it was cut short.
Wayne always made time to have conversations and connect with people, even strangers. He was kind, patient, calm, and a constant support for his family. He was an excellent teacher and mentor to his children and all who surrounded him. He had a natural way of showing and demonstrating how to operate, fix, and problem-solve anything.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Lynn; his son, David (Jane); his daughters, Andrea (Steve) and Jamie (Torence); grandchildren, Rocket, Archer, and Camryn; mother-in-law, Shirley (Frank); sister-in-law, Anne (Horst); brother-in-law, Doug (Andrea); many beloved nephews, nieces, and friends whom he considered family; his sisters, Bev, Shirley, and Cheryl, and his brother, Gerry.
In lieu of flowers, the Norton family has requested that donations be given to the Emergency and ICU campaign of the Dr. REM Lee Hospital Foundation (https://remleehospitalfoundation.org/).
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on August 10th at the Pentecostal Assembly in Terrace, BC, followed by a reception at Heritage Park Museum.
