In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our HERO.
Wayne being so brave till the bitter end ,passed away peacefully with his family by his side, as he had fought a quick battle with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer.
Wayne was born in Wetaskiwin AB then moved with his family to McBride B.C. and then on to Campbell River B.C. where he graduated high school and met the love of his life Delores. They were married in 1971 and 2 years later their 1st daughter was born and they continued on to have 4 more children.
Wayne was predeceased by his mother Marion Nelson, father Elmer Nelson, brother Rodney Nelson and nephew Raymond Nelson.
He leaves behind his loving wife Delores, daughters Tammy(John), Kim(Andy), Mellany(Tom) and sons Jeff(Shauna) , Jeremy, grandchildren Connor (Grace), Ray-ann(Mitch), Peyton, Mitchell, Alexander , Jackson, brothers Vern(Linda), Dennis(Jill),sisters in law Ann and Betty , brother in law Pete, great granddaughter Tatum and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne was manager of the Doghouse Store for 37 years and will be remembered by his warm smile and good sense of humor. Later in life Wayne and Delores ran their own cleaning business (Grimestoppers) until their retirement. It was then that they enjoyed camping, gardening , road trips and family get togethers.
His family is extremely saddened by his passing and finds solace in the beautiful memories they shared with him , and is comforted knowing he is now at peace.
Wayne had a heart of gold and his legacy of kindness and spontaneity will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.He was a devoted husband, caring father and a loyal friend.
Family meant everything to him and his wish came true when he walked his baby girl down the aisle on Father's Day 2024 and couldn't have been more proud.
At this time the family would like to thank Dr. Val Verapeen for his compassion and kindness during this time, and the many family and friends who gave us their love and support, the food , the cards the flowers etc.
At Wayne's request there will be no service as he wanted an informal gathering in the backyard with close friends and family to enjoy a cold beer.
