“RED” WALTER HENRY FULLER passed away in the Williams Lake Memorial Hospital after a gallant battle with cancer. Red was born November 3, 1935 and raised in Kelowna. Red’s roots in Kelowna go back to 1903 when his grandparents established themselves in the area. Red’s early years were spent in the Kelowna area, he spoke often of swimming across Okanagan Lake, and all the horses he had staked out on his father’s lots around the city that no one knew about. In his later teen years Red spent time in Toronto racing cars on the track, taking him also to the U.S. At this time he also began his trade as mechanic that he developed into a Mastery of heavy Duty Mechanics. When Red returned to B.C. he took up driving logging trucks, which took him to various areas of the province. Many enjoyable years were spent in the North Thompson in Vavenby with his family. Red spent a number of years working with F.A. Dobbin and Sons as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic and equipment operator building roads around the province. Many a good time and many good friends were made while building the roads in the Chilcotin, Likely and Horsefly areas. Red also had a hand in the building of the connector and numerous other projects while he was employed by Peterson Contracting. Red enjoyed playing ball and has passed on the love of the sport to his son Rusty and granddaughter Trista. Red was an avid bowler and held one of the highest averages until his illness. Red thoroughly enjoyed bowling in tournaments that he attended with his wife, Fern, sons, family and good friends. Red is survived by his beloved wife, Fern, sons, Rusty and Gladstone, step children, Teri-Ann and Jon, daughter-in-law, Lorraine. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Sister Sheila (Bud) Gourlie, three nephews and one niece. Predeceased by his father 1963, mother 1937 and his older brother Alan, 1995. A celebration in honor of Red’s life will be held November 3, 2002 at the Seniors Centre in Williams Lake at 2:00 p.m.
