W. Eileen Danberger, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2023, at the age of 99 in Creston, BC. Known to all as simply “Eileen,” she was born on October 10, 1923, in Pontypridd, Wales, Great Britain. Mom came to Canada in 1946.
Alongside her husband, Thomas, she lived in various parts of the country, raising their eight children with love and dedication. Eileen and Thomas eventually retired and moved to Creston in 1986. It was in Creston that Eileen became a loving “gramma” to 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, showering them with affection and support.
Eileen’s interests were centered around community and service to others. She was known for her generosity, kindness, and selflessness. These qualities were evident in her work with the Gleaners and Holy Cross Church, Catholic Women’s League, as well as in her relationships with family and friends.
Eileen’s life stands as a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose and impact.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, in 2002, and her children Taum (2003) and Sharon Speiss (2006) and son-in-law Patrick Harland (2014).
She is survived by her loving daughters Yvonne Harland, Theresa Danberger, Patricia Schween (Rod), and sons William (Patricia), Robert (Tracey), and Larry(Diana) Danberger. Eileen’s legacy also lives on through her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In conclusion, Eileen Danberger’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and the lessons she taught us.
Rest in peace, Eileen. Your life was a gift to us all.
