Violet Maxine Sloat

March 1, 1934 – January 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
Sweet Violet has gone to her reward and what a reward she deserves!
Violet Maxine Sloat (McKay), was predeceased by her husband Earl (1988), daughter Donna Marie McRae (1999) and brother Ray McKay (1989).
Feeling her loss is “Boy” son Gary (Diane); daughter Wendy; grandchildren Jennie-Lynn (Harold), Amanda (Wade), Trisha (John), Konner (Ashley) and Derek; and great-grandchildren Jack, Chloe, Chelsea, Christian, Harrison, Anabelle, Isla and Adeline. She will also be missed by numerous family members and friends.
Lady Violet loved her English country garden and knew all the birds by name. She enjoyed walking the Saratoga neighbourhood chatting with friends and tourists. She had many health issues over the last 28 years and faced each one with optimism and courage. We thank all her family and friends for their visits, phone calls and support. They helped her surpass the few years she had been expected to live. With this extra time, she was able to attend graduations, weddings and meet her great-grandchildren. She spent almost 10 months in the Campbell River Hospital and the last 6 months at the Discovery Harbour Seniors Community.
A special thank you to Dr. Penhall and Dr. Veerappan for their care. We would like to thank the amazing staff at the hospital on the 3rd floor. As well as the staff of Denman and Hornby at Discovery Harbour. We would like to say they all loved her as much as we did. A special thank you to Caroline Sloat for her continuous love and support for Violet and the family.
Please remember Violet when the Robin’s chirp in the spring, while you sip gin and tonic on a warm summer’s day, have a glass of red wine in the fall or have a smash of brandy in the winter. We will treasure her always.
To our Matriarch, Granny, Grans, GG, we will continue to spread laughter and love to all. We will continue to gather at our famous August Long to tell stories and create more memories. We hope you are dancing the polka with Earl and planting snow drops with Donna. We will miss you so, so much.
To know her was to love her.
Flowers greatly appreciated.
A memorial will be held in April, time to be announced at a later date.
