Velma passed away in Valley Haven rest home where she spent the last 18 months of her life.
Prior to that she enjoyed a long married life with her husband Evan, who predeceased her in September of 2020. Velma was born to pioneer parents Harry and Isabella Ballam and lived in Chilliwack all of her life.
Their home on Chilliwack River Rd., the swimming pool in the summer, and her hospitality are fondly remembered by all neighbours and numerous nieces and nephews for 3 generations.
Evan and Velma enjoyed old-time dancing and various activities at Camp River Hall, where they were life time members.
Velma was predeceased by her sister, Carrie Quinlan; brothers William, Bob, Casey and Jack. She was also predeceased by her nearest sister Ella just 2 weeks ago. The two sisters were very close and spent years doing everything together including shopping, daily chores, and visiting. Somehow, it seems fitting that they also passed away so close in time.
There is no funeral as requested, but in the near future please check the following website to receive day and time of the interment for the sisters and their spouses.
