September 6, 1932 - February 3, 2022
Ursula passed away in her daughters Castlegar home after a long battle with TIA's, Dementia, and a very large Stroke. Ursula was born and raised in Rheinhausen, Germany. In 1956 she married her late husband Dieter Dohmen and in March 1957 they immigrated to Canada living in Alberta until 1976. They then moved to Crawford Bay, then to Castlegar since 1982.
In Ursula's younger years she played handball on the National team in Germany. She was a physiotherapist/nurse, as her husband ran and owned Elecktro Dohmen Enterprises, Ltd., she was also a secretary. Ursula and her late husband were involved in breeding Labrador Retrievers for over 30 years and were long-time members of the West Kootenay Kennel Club. Ursula also ran and owned Shwarzenberg Kennels.
During the past years, Ursula enjoyed swimming 3 days a week, 40 lengths a day at the Castlegar pool. She would stop in and visit the Castlegar Seniors Club. She spent many years living independently at Castlewood Village, she loved it for many reasons, she was an active woman, she loved the live music and to dance. If the music had a fast enough beat, she would Jive the night away. Until of course it was time to pick up a book, she regularly had 2-3 on the go. Ursula is survived by their only daughter Sandy Bojechko (Darrel) and her three grandchildren Cory, Jake, and Veronica. Ursula is also survived by her three Great-grandchildren Clairissa-Ursula, Hans-Dieter, and Meadow. Ursula is also survived by many German relatives.
A Celebration of life will be held in the Spring, date to be decided.
