March 28, 1956 - July 20, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tracie Lynn Dowe (nee Neil), July 20, 2023, the middle child of three to Doug and Erma Neil. Left to grieve her passing are her husband of 41 years Joe; son Michael; daughter Jillian; and son-in-law Bill. She is also survived by her sister Judy; nephews Derek (Carmen), David (Roxanne), and Dominic (Renee); grandnephews Nicolas and Marcus; brother Scott (Shirley); nephew Ryan (Sarah) great-niece Madeline, great-nephew Keegan; niece Mandy (Brad); sister-in-law Brenda; and uncle Bob. She will be dearly missed by cousin Wendy and cousin Chris (Cathy).
Tracie was predeceased by her father Doug Neil (April 1, 1967) and mother Erma Budd (December 6, 2020). She also lost her brothers-in-law Joe, 2021 and Gordon 2019.
Tracie was born on March 28, 1956, in Chatham, Ontario. At the age of three, the family moved to Ocean Falls. It was there that Tracie met Robin (John) who would go on to be one of Tracie's closest friends for the rest of her life. Tragically Doug passed away suddenly at the age of forty. Erma, left to raise her three children alone, worked hard and after several moves including Prince George, where Tracie made lifelong friends, the family arrived in Campbell River where Tracie finished her high school years. Her older sister, Judy, married in 1971 and the family of Erma, Tracie and Scott stayed in Campbell River from then on.
Tracie worked as an operator for B.C. Tel and later Telus. In 1979, Tracie and Joe met and after several attempts by Joe, she eventually relented and agreed to marry him in 1981. Michael came along in 1982 and Jillian in 1984.
The epitome of Tracie's happiness was having her children. She fostered many of the kids' friends and was the best auntie ever.
Tracie was an incredible person and made many, many friends over the years. Her co-workers at Telus formed the basis for the social circle that she and Joe travelled in.
As the kids grew up, the family would often camp at beer belly flats on Campbell Lake with the Wilson's and the Bennett's.
In later years, they began travelling further afield and spent many winter holidays in Mexico with Ken and Toni and on Maui with their dear friends Brenda and George.
We will host a celebration of life for Tracie on August 4th from 1 - 5 p.m. at the Legion in Campbell River at 301 11th Ave.
