In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness; we announce the passing of T. Rex Farrell at the age of 91.

Rex was born in Dauphin, MB. Rex started his professional accounting career as the office manager at the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel, where he met and married Lis. Rex was then transferred to the head office in Montreal as the office manager of the Canadian Division of the House of Seagrams. An incredible opportunity that he always spoke of fondly.

As Rex & Lis wanted to move the family back to BC, Rex managed to get a transfer to Gimli MB, or as he called it: halfway there. He did finally get to BC to Kelowna. He finished his career teaching accounting & business law in Kamloops at Cariboo College (now the Thompson River University)) for 20 years.

Once retired Lis & Rex moved to Ladysmith and never had a moment of regret. For several years Rex worked from home helping people with their income taxes; taught 2nd year accounting at the Chemainus Native College. Rex also did some volunteer work for the Resource Centre and Citizens on Patrol. He enjoyed swimming at the local pool and chatting with friends in the Hot Tub. When still able Rex very much enjoyed hiking with friends and getting to know the many beautiful hiking trails close to Ladysmith & Duncan.

Before passing on Rex told his wife and family, he had lived a long, good life with a good wife and family and was ready to go. He had no regrets. Rex is dearly missed by his family. He was always the family rock.

Rex leaves behind his wife Lis, and 3 children Teresa (Brian), Allan & John (Jackie) and 3 grandsons Finn, Ronin & Felix and his sister Robin, Toronto, ON.

There will be a celebration of Rex's life Oct. 12 at 2 PM at the Ladysmith Canadian Legion Hall 621 First Avenue. Donations in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army or your local food bank.
