September 6, 1961 – March 15, 2021
Stephen William Ackles passed away at the Age of 59 in Prince George BC with his wife by his side. Survived by his wife Sherri, sons Robert (Leslie), Kyle (Cindy), daughter Ashley (Adrian), Mother Kay, brother Scott (Theresa) and his eight grandchildren that he adored very much.
Predeceased by his father Bob (2008). Steve was born in Vancouver, BC on September 6, 1961. He married his high school sweetheart and moved to Parksville on Vancouver Island to raise his family.
Steve had many different jobs over the years from commercial fishing deckhand, logger, to heavy duty construction worker in the earlier parts of his adult life. It was in his 40’s that he found his true calling and he went back to university to pursue a career as a Conservation Officer.
Steve loved the outdoors and getting the opportunity to dedicate his passion towards protecting BC’s natural resources was something Steve was very proud to do.
When Steve’s children had moved out to pursue careers of their own, he took an opportunity to accept a promotion to the rank of Sergeant in Prince George BC. Steve took a lot of pride in the career and often reflected on how lucky he was to have the best job in the world, he was very proud to be a BC Game Warden.
Steve will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his dedication, and his pride in being a stubborn Irishman.
Steve loved his wife whom at the end he referred to as his angel, his kids, Mother, Brother, and many friends and co-workers. Steve was a class act and will be missed by all that knew him.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Prince George hospice and the many nurses and doctors at the Northern Health Prince George hospital and Cancer Clinic who helped him along the way.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the head and neck cancer fund or simply grab a fishing rod, head outdoors, and spend some time with a loved one enjoying what beautiful BC has to offer.
Tight lines Steve.Obituary-
