We are heartbroken to announce that Simon passed away on January 19, 2024, with his family by his side. Simon succumbed to his battle with kidney disease and, more recently, complications from pneumonia.
He was predeceased by his mother Sandy, his Grandparents; Charles and Mary Nurse, Donal and Marie Park, his aunt Clarice Maher, his uncles Gerard Nurse, Randy Park, Gerry Halley, and Ronnie Cadigan and cousin Mike Bell.
Simon leaves to remember him, with love, his father Tom, brother Jason (Stacey), sister; Kim Seguin, nieces, and nephew; Caitlyn Bourns (Eric), Brady and Hayley, and great niece Ariana Bourns. Aunts and uncles; Donna Bell, Kathryn Halley, Elizabeth Hunt (Calvin), Barbara Cadigan, Barbara McLean (Neil), Simone Comeau-Park, Rick (Marie), Noel (Jackie), Chuck (Marietta), Bob (Cathy), Chris (Debbie), and Gary Nurse and Dave Maher. As well as dozens of cousins.
Simon will also be sadly missed by his Obed House family, with whom he shared the last 24 years, especially Delores, Ray, Delwyn, Ken, Lisa and Ryan, and the many, caring, staff: Joan, Aaron, Jennifer, Joyce, Precious, Dan, Dulce, Liz, Nicole, Craig, Bethany, Leslie, Toya, Tracey, Adele and Robin.
Simon lived his life his way and cherished the independence he gained when he entered his new world at Obed House in 1999. He took on challenges most of us would think mundane but, for someone with Simon's abilities, were monumental.
He was a very social person and enjoyed meeting people, mostly one on one, and using his telephone and computer and loved his video chats with relatives, and friends, from NL to BC.
As per Simon's wishes, cremation has taken place.
