In loving memory ~
Sigrid passed away peacefully the morning after her 88th birthday. Sigrid was predeceased by her loving husband Gunter on November 19, 2017 and is survived by her daughter Leona and granddaughter Frances as well as her sister-in-law Krista in Germany and nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. She was affectionately called Issy by those closest to her, a nickname she’s had since childhood.
Sigrid was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada with her husband, settling in Nanaimo to join her sister and family. She found employment at the Nanaimo Biological Station. It was a job she loved but left to devote herself to her family as a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.
Sigrid was a talented artist and crafter and has left us with many beautiful examples of her works. Among her many interests Issy enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, sewing and dancing. In recent years she especially enjoyed her evening glass of sherry before bedtime. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Dufferin Place for their kind care over the last few years.
There will be no service by request and Sigrid will join her husband and parents at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
