February 11, 1949 - January 4, 2023
In memory
Shirley slipped away quietly early January 4, 2023, after a hard battle with cancer. She fought every step of the way and exhausted all options.
Shirley was born, on February 11, 1949, in Cranbrook, BC to Bill and Ethel Busch and was the "Middle" sister to Diane and Peggy.
In 1959, the family moved to North Vancouver. Life was good and "Social" Shirley had many fond school and university memories. She graduated as a teacher in 1971 and enjoyed a 35 year career enlightening elementary students in North Vancouver and Williams Lake.
Shirley re-met Rob in 1984, moved to Williams Lake and they married in 1987. In the Cariboo, Shirley was introduced to wild game, fishing, dogs and gardening and she embraced them all.
In the 70's, she caught the "Travel Bug", and never lost the urge to go to a new place or to return to an area she enjoyed.
Shirley was blessed with a wonderful, large and diverse family and many longstanding friends. She loved you all dearly.
She is survived by her husband Rob, daughters Lisa (Dave) Pilling and Krista (Peter) Rosati, sisters Diane Powell and Peggy Busch (Andy Kowalewski), grandchildren Isla, Aran, Eva and Romeo, nieces and nephews Rob, Kristy, Mathew, Bridgette and their families as well as brother-in-law Irwin (Pierrette) Gordon and nieces Christina and Cierra.
Shirley's Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm, March 18, 2023 in the Gibraltar Room, Cariboo Memorial Complex, 525 Proctor Street, Williams Lake.
In lieu of flowers, we would be honoured if you would make a donation, in Shirley's name, to the BC Cancer Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
To the nurses, staff and doctors at Cariboo Memorial Hospital and the BC Cancer Center in Prince George- a sincere thank you for your compassion and care, you made Shirley's journey easier.
