June 13, 1935 - November 22, 2022
In loving memory ~
Sheila Ann Sergeant (nee Baxter), born on June 13, 1935, passed away peacefully in Courtenay, BC on November 22, 2022 at the age of 87.
Sheila was predeceased by her husband, George, in 2005. She is survived by her brother David Baxter, her children Les Sergeant (Dee), Lauren Douglas (Marty) and Lisa Barron (Keith) and a blended family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sheila and George emigrated from England in 1957, settling first in Calgary, Alberta, followed by Richmond, BC and Milton, Ontario before retiring to island life on Gabriola Island, BC. Sheila relocated to Nanaimo, BC shortly after George's passing to live with Lisa and Keith.
Sheila's passion for music - playing piano and singing - entertained local audiences for many years.
She loved a pub night, playing games with her family, and winning her daily computer games!
Sheila loved the opportunities to travel with family, cousin Janet O'Mara (Jerry) and long-time friend Angela Davis Hall.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the care aids and nursing staff for the care Sheila received in her final month at Oceanfront Village, Courtenay, BC.
Very special thanks to Melissa King of 'Home Instead' with daily loving caregivers Jen and Kia throughout the past year - they went above and beyond.
Our hearts are full of appreciation to our family friend, Cathy Cunningham, who helped enormously with mom's care but was also her dear friend.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Society of BC in Sheila's name will be greatly appreciated.
Condolences to the family may be expressed to kicker@telus.net.
