Sean Michael Hogan passed away at the age of 76 in Duncan on March 1st, 2023.
He is survived by his family: wife Ane-Marie, sister Maureen (Art), his children: Cara (Martin), Keely, Shea, Liam (Amanda), Ane-Marie's children: Tina, Norman and Kirk (Sylvia), numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Sean was predeceased by his parents; Sylvester Dennis (Denny) and Frances Mary, and his brother Sylvester Dennis Jr.
Sean was born and grew up in Duncan. He loved scouting and participated in the 1963 World Jamboree in Athens. He first met his wife, Ane-Marie, at Cowichan Secondary School, later reconnecting with her in the late 1980s and marrying in 1993.
Obtaining a law degree from UBC, Sean set up practice in Nanaimo and moved to Saltair with his young family. With his love for the outdoors, he would take his young children camping on the family property on Cortes Island.
Although not the fastest, Sean was an avid runner. He finished many marathons, his first in Honolulu, and the most memorable following the original marathon route in Athens, Greece. Later on, he traded in his running shoes for dancing shoes to hit the dance floor with his square dance group.
Besides his many trips abroad with Ane-Marie, a cherished part of Sean's life was his daily coffee group. He would tell his grandchildren that McDonald's coffee was his favourite - because it was served when he was in the company of his friends.
Sean put up a good fight, but his heart finally gave out. We kindly ask you to consider a donation to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca) in lieu of flowers.
Please join us for a slice of Sean's favourite triple chocolate cake at an informal gathering on Monday, March 20th, 2023 from 1 to 3pm at First Memorial, Duncan B.C.
