March 8, 1958 - March 2, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Scott Allen Mackenzie, on March 2nd, 2023 at Boundary Kootenay Hospital, with his family by his side. Scott was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, Papa, brother and friend.
Scott was born March 8th, 1958 in Trail, B.C. He was raised and lived in Castlegar, BC, the son of Bruce and Ethel Mackenzie.
Scott graduated from Stanley Humphrey High School and worked at Celgar for 43 years until he retired in 2018. He continued to work the shutdowns after his retirement as he loved catching up with the guys.
Scott loved spending time with his family and trips to Valhalla on Slocan Lake where he enjoyed camping, side-by-side trips, boating and lounging on the beach while sipping beer.
He also loved travelling and cooking, his specialties were smoked turkey, ribs and prime rib roast with Yorkshire puddings, a family favourite.
Scott will be remembered for his kind heart, loving and caring personality along with his smile and random quirky humour. His colleagues would describe him as hard-working, a problem solver, friendly and just a nice guy. Scott will be missed by all that knew and loved him!
Scott leaves behind his loving wife Colleen, his children Amanda, Kayla (Curtis) and Brett, his stepchildren Leighton Allsop (Felicia) and Kayla Allsop (Eric), his 3 grandchildren Maddison, Hayden and Tanyia, his sister Leslie (Jon), aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the incredible ICU staff at Kootenay Boundary Hospital for their kindness and support.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 19th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Cartwrights Pub in Castlegar.
Please bring your stories and have one last drink with Scotty!
Love you forever!
