In loving memory ~
It is with profound heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, Nonno, brother, Zio, Sabino Laurino (Sam) whom slipped away peacefully with us by his side on April 15, 2023, at the age of 90 years.
Sabino was born in S. Stefano Del Sole, Avellino, Italy on February 7, 1933, to parents Sabino and Giuseppina (nee Dattolo) In,1955 Sabino immigrated to Canada where he began his journey for a new life in Castlegar. Sabino went on to marry the love of his life in 1961 to Clara Laurino (nee Borgogna) and together raised two children until her passing in 2008. In Sabino’s earlier years, he enjoyed hunting with his brothers-in-law, son, and nephews as well as fishing and many camping trips with the families. Sabino was known for his “playing by ear” accordion talent at all family gatherings. He proudly loved his garden and winemaking.
Sabino would be seen often on his daily walks and known to stop and take time to talk and share his stories with those he encountered along the way with his friendly nature. Nonno will be fondly remembered and dearly missed for his wise words, and his humorous and positive gentle nature by his loving grandchildren Diego, Danika, Antonia, and Liah. His daughter, Maria (Greg) and his son, Pino. His sister and brother-in-law Viola and Frank D’onofrio as well as nephews and nieces.
We would like to extend our heartfelt Thank you to Dr. Larocque and Nurse Natalie for their kind compassion during our loss.
A funeral service was held in honour of his wishes on April 20, 2023, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church followed by his final resting place together with his wife at the Kinnaird Park Memorial Cemetery.
