Roy Edwin Lear

October 4, 1937 – December 8, 2021
By name he was Husband, Father, Grandpa, Grandpa Roy, Uncle, Friend, The Fox, Port Coquitlam Flash, The Donut Man and his favorite GG Pa to Riley Rose.
He leaves to grieve Marilyn, the love of his life and wife of 60 years, daughters Christine (Richard), and Shelley (Dave). Grandchildren Alicia (Trevor), Rick, Victoria (Christopher), Jason (Schuyler), and Jelena.
Great grandchildren Isaac, Aaron, Simon, Ayden, Dominic, Shaylee, Rhiannon, Riley Rose, and baby Martens who is due to arrive in January. Sisters Vera, Catherine, Rosemarie, Betty, Pearl, Candy and brothers Gary, Steven and Billy in Ontario.
Roy came to Vancouver from Northern Ontario in 1960 on his way to Australia, met Marilyn and never left B.C. They moved to Chilliwack in 1993 living his last 15 years in Rainbow Community Estates.
His reinforcing steel work started on the W.A.C. Bennett dam in 1966 and finished 41 years later when he retired from his partnership in Star Reinforcing Steel ltd. He loved his work.
Roy asked Jesus Christ into his heart and life in June of 1978, a decision that changed his life forever. His favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31 ‘But they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint’.
His favorite saying right to the end was “I know who’s on the throne and I know who holds my hand”. He is now worshipping around the throne of God with his best friend Lawrence Shewchuk who went before him.
