August 7, 1941 - November 11, 2023
After a valiant effort to regain his health, Ron peacefully left us on November 11, 2023.
He leaves behind his wife Corinne McCabe, children Michael (Glenda), Douglas, Lorna and Margo (Konstantinos), his sister Ida, and many other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Matt and Annie and sisters Kay, Marg, and Tony.
Ron was immensely proud of his children and their diverse talents.
He excelled in many sports, but curling was his passion. After winning two Briers and being inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of fame in 1975, he continued to make major contributions to the game and its development, helping to spread curling around the globe and to get it recognized as an Olympic sport.
As a counsellor and leader of learning, Ron impacted innumerable students, teachers and athletes during his teaching and administrative career.
In his retirement, Ron didn't stop evolving. Instead he used the new found freedom to explore other interests he enjoyed including carpentry, cycling, cooking and travel.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Abbotsford Kidney Clinic and the Abbotsford Hospital for their excellent and professional care. Celebrations of his Life will be held at the Chilliwack Curling Club on Wednesday November 22, 2023 at 3 pm and in Edmonton at a later date.
