Roland (Rolly) Kober (of Roko Service Ltd.) unexpectedly passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Rolly was born on June 1st, 1930 in Breitscheid, Germany. His years of youth were greatly impacted by the conflicts of WWII. The conduct of Canadian occupying troops in his region gave Rolly a new hope in the humanity of mankind and this spawned his desire to one day emigrate to Canada. After completing his German apprenticeship training in the auto electric trade, Rolly’s request to immigrate was accepted by Canada. On September 3rd, 1953 Rolly arrived in Vernon and the following year he married his sweetheart, Erna Wolf on October 2nd, 1954. In 1958 Rolly started his own business which was later incorporated as Roko Service Ltd.
Rolly was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Erna, to whom he was married for 62 years; and his three sons, Harald (Anita) and Conrad (LaVonne) of Vernon, B.C. and Carl (Evelyn) of Delta, B.C. Opa will be forever cherished in the hearts of his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rolly treasured most of all, the many relationships with his family, nieces, nephews, church community, extended family, colleagues and business customers. And to our great country of Canada, he had always expressed his gratitude and thankfulness to be accepted as an equal citizen.
A Celebration Of Rolly’s Life will be held at the Church of God, 4312 – 25th Street, on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Gary Glanz officiating. A reception at the church and interment at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery will follow.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory
of Rolly to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan, P.O. Box 3619, Stn Main, Guelph, Ontario N1H 9Z9.
