In Loving Memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bert) Harvey Witt on January 26, 2024.

Bert spent much of his life living in Langley and Cloverdale, working as a meat cutter for Overwaitea Foods, as well as owning his own shop called "Bert's Freezer Meats". He continued to provide for his community until his retirement in 1999.

He was passionate about his work and well respected; his work ethic was something worth noting and he was very proud of that.

Bert was even more proud of his family, though. He was a dedicated father of three, a grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was a mentor, a teacher, a man who instilled his hard work ethic and "old fashioned" morals onto the younger generations in his life. He pushed those he loved to succeed and never waivered in his support and positivity towards them.

Nature was something that Bert held near and dear to his heart. His love for the wilderness and exploring the map has been passed down generation, after generation. His day always started with an early morning walk, and he never skipped an opportunity to hike in the mountains, cast a fishing line or set up camp.

He loved nothing more than to share the things he was most passionate about with his family; teaching them all the things he knew about the world. Bert never shied away from the next great adventure.

Bert has endless talents; he could grow a garden better than most, anything he planted thrived under his care. He also built himself 3 houses - a feat few could accomplish!

In his later years, Bert moved to Penticton with his partner, where he continued to live each day with integrity and a true joy for life.

His laughter, his jokes and his unwavering love will be sorely missed but when we hear the early morning birds chirp, or a fish splash in the lake, we'll think of him, and we'll smile to ourselves knowing he's saying hello.
