Robert (Bob) Wayne Dick

January 19, 2023

January 2, 1947 - January 19, 2023
In loving memory ~
Bob would want short and sweet so here it is (or our best effort):
Bob was a "get it done guy." He never put things off. This was true in life and as he passed.
He took his last walk on Whiffin Spit on Tuesday the 17th and passed peacefully on the 19th, after the shortest stay in Hospice ever - less than one hour. Bob believed there was no point in prolonging the inevitable and so he just got on with it.
He took pride in mentoring others (he was sought out by many for his financial expertise and wisdom). Bob began his work life early at the age of 15 in the logging industry, and worked in small logging communities up and down the island before settling in Jordan River, as the accountant in 1977. He and Leslie lived in JR until 6 years ago, when BC Hydro closed the waterfront homes down and they moved to Sooke.
It was always fun to be "on the hunt" with Bob as he searched for great deals or to find exactly what he was looking for; be it a leather vest or the best bowl of seafood chowder.
He made an outstanding martini!
Bob is survived by Leslie his wife of 42 plus years, his sisters Donni and Betty, and extended family.
Thanks to: Joanne and Jessica, the community nurses who were supportive, present, and always available with guidance. Dr. Anton Rabien for his care of, and for, Bob both over the years and during the past months following his cancer diagnosis.
A huge thank you to both Ralph and Sydney, the ambulance team who were so caring, thoughtful, and gentle with both Bob and with us. Thanks also to Lane and her colleague from the Fire Department who kindly assisted in Bob's trip to Hospice. We felt looked after and appreciated your hugs!
There will be no service by Bob's request. In lieu of flowers donations to Sooke Hospice would be appreciated.
