April 29, 1929 - May 14, 2025

Ramona was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on April 29,1929, and left this earth from Abbotsford, British Columbia, on May 14, 2025, just before dinner. She had spent the afternoon resting while her granddaughter read Emily Dickinson to her, a reversal of the roles they had enjoyed decades before. This was a fitting end to a life flooded with expressive imagination: engaging stories, joyful gardens, colourful cakes, and restful watercolours were continual products of her creativity throughout her long life. She sang as she worked, and was as intelligent as she was beautiful: her quick wit kept us humble while her wisdom made us strong.

Mona deeply mourned the family members who died before her, especially her mother, Mary Duerksen Schroeder. She always said that it was only God's strength that brought her through that shattering childhood loss. She further grieved the passing of her father and stepmother, Peter and Anna Schroeder; her siblings and their spouses, Joan and Jake Rempel, and Peter and Elinor Schroeder; her brothers-in-law, Pete Enns and Ed Klassen; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Falk.

Remembering Mona are her husband of 76 years, George Falk; her children, Don and Judy Falk with their children Angela, Rachel and Jeremy Brown, Kathryn and David Graham, and Matthew and Andrea Falk, and great-grandchildren Elias, Kyler, Donovan, Judah, Samwise, Abbot, Finn, and Loralyn; Ruth and Gordon Wiebe with their daughters, Melissa and Deanna; Sharon and Dana Yoshimoto with their children Connor and Olivia and her partner, Paulo Da Rocha; Mona's siblings, Dorothy Enns, Shirley and George Warkentin, and Anita Klassen; plus nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Schroeder, Duerksen, and Falk families.

A special thank-you to the staff members at Hallmark on the Park and in the 2East neighbourhood of the Menno Home who supported Mona in her final years and months.

All are welcome to Ramona's Celebration of Life to be held at The Gathering Church, the faith community in which she worshipped and served for the past 60 years, 2285 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC, on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2pm.
