t is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Yofonoff on May 30, 2023 at the age of 73.
Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; Peter was loved and respected by many.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret; daughters Patty (Devin), Corinne, and Shelley (Keenan); grandchildren Jenna, Megan, Grace, Ian, and Joel; siblings Walter (Arlene), Lawrence, Diane (Dwight), Walter, and Peter (Susan); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter; mother, Mabel; and brother, Bill.
Peter loved fishing and camping but most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
He worked at Celgar as a piperfitter for over 40 years, making many lifelong friends along the way. He joined the Ootischenia Fire Department and worked his way through their ranks to Fire Chief, where he mentored others for over 25 years. Peter was also a fraternal member of the Castlegar Masonic Lodge.
