In Loving Memory ~

Peter Kearns was born on July 22, 1929, in Moncton Coombe, Bath, UK. After a long and remarkable life, he passed away peacefully, at home, on November 8, 2023, in Duncan BC.

He is predeceased by his sister, Sheila Wyper, and brother-in-law Allan Wyper, and survived by his nieces Heather Morris and Sally Arkell, his nephew Michael Wyper, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, and even a great-great-great nephew

Peter attended Moncton Coombe School, then Wadham College, Oxford. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a teacher, first at Taunton School, UK, then at Shawnigan Lake School.

After several years, he moved into private business, pursuing different endeavours until ultimately following his passion for gardening into starting a rhododendron nursery.

Throughout his life he held onto his greatest passions. In addition to gardening, he was an avid fisherman who wetted his lines in pursuit of all types of fish across most of B.C. and the United Kingdom and Ireland. He was also an enthusiastic golfer, playing at least twice a week up until a week before his passing at age 94.

The other great love of his life was music. He started playing the bassoon at the age of 24 while teaching at Taunton School. For 70 years he played in various concert bands and orchestras including the Vancouver Island Orchestra.

His keen intellect, profound wisdom, wonderful sense of humor,

and unshakable decorum will be missed by all who knew him.
