November 20, 1921 - October 12, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with very sad hearts that the family of Pauline "Tressa" Mackie announces her passing in the early hours of October 12, 2022, at the Kimberley Special Care Home (The Pines) in her 101st year.
Tressa was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, on November 20, 1921, to German and Scottish immigrant parents. She was raised on a farm, and life there as a small girl was not easy. She worked hard and loved all things nature. When she was a young teenager, her father moved the family to Destiny Bay, B.C., to run the Red & White grocery store, which is presently the Destiny Bay Resort. While living in Destiny Bay, she met Percy Mackie from Boswell, and they later married in 1943. Percy served six years in the RCAF, and Tressa went to Trail to work. When Percy returned, they moved to Kimberley and raised their family. Tressa's home was her castle, and she loved to bake and family always came first. She and Percy travelled to Reno numerous times, as well as with her family to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and Scotland. Percy passed away in 1996, and at that time,Tressa moved to Joseph Creek Village in Cranbrook. She resided there until 2021, when hip surgery made it impossible for her to take care of herself. She then moved to The Pines.
Tressa was predeceased by her husband Percy, son Brian (2018), and infant son (1951). She is survived by her son Gary (Bobbie Jo) and daughter Donna (Allen).
The family would like to thank everyone at JCV and The Pines for the exceptional care and attention she received while living there. The family is planning a private memorial at a later date, and her ashes will be interred at Boswell cemetery alongside Percy's.
