Paul lived life to the fullest and cared for others. His family is saddened to announce his passing on December 28, 2022. Paul was born on November 25, 1944, in Regina, SK to Alice and George Horton.
He loved growing up in Calgary, AB. He played many sports well, especially hockey. Paul backpacked across Europe and the Middle East in 1967. When he returned to Calgary, he met his future wife, Gail, and they were married for 52 years.
They moved to Fernie, BC, where Paul worked in the coal mining industry. They had two children, Janine and Brett.
Many fond memories of skiing and living in Fernie. In 1984, Paul and family moved to their house in South Surrey, where he lived until his death. Paul had a career change and loved his work at Fraser Surrey Docks. Paul was a proud retired member of the ILWU Local 514.
Paul was happiest with his family, especially on a cruise ship. Paul and Gail sailed around the world in retirement. He also loved Cuba. Closer to home, Paul walked along Crescent Beach almost every day.
Paul is survived by wife, Gail, children, Janine and Brett, grandchildren, Maelle, Cosette and Owen, and brother, Greg, and many friends.
