September 24, 1947 - December 16, 2022
In loving memory ~
Patricia Anne Hanson, after a long and brave battle with ALS, passed away on December 16th, 2022.
Patricia was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 24th, 1947 to parents Toar and Evelyn Springstein and was the big sister to Peter Springstein. Pat attended Luther College in Regina where she excelled in academics and sports and met the love of her life Gerald Hanson. The two celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this past July.
Patricia was an extraordinary and passionate educator. She taught history, French and social studies for over 30 years, teaching at Scott Collegiate, Sheldon Williams, and Robert Usher.
In the late 1990's she became the coordinator for the International Baccalaureate program at Campbell Collegiate. She was then asked to serve on the committee for the Canadian Governor General's national history awards. Patricia, or more fittingly Mrs. Hanson taught and inspired thousands upon thousands of students in Saskatchewan.
Always active, Patricia loved hunting and competing in field trials with her black labs. She was an avid outdoors-woman who loved camping, hiking, canoeing and above all skiing. Never afraid of a challenge, in her 50's, she achieved her 2nd degree black belt in ITF Taekwondo.
Patricia was the beloved mother to Mark and Lee Hanson, mother-in-law to Jocelyn Hanson, and favourite Nan to her two grandchildren Brayden and Tenley Hanson. Patricia was always a light in this world to her countless friends, family members and students.
A celebration of life (In person and virtual) will be held for Patricia Hanson in the spring/summer of 2023. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local ALS chapter in her honour.
