In loving memory ~
Born in Lamont, AB April 6th, 1927, Orist moved to Prince Rupert when he was 15 and gradually made his way south into the Cariboo. Orist is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Elsie; sons Brad (Susan), and Kent (Irene), brother Bill (Carol), 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons, Todd, Dean and Richard.
Orist brought his young family to the Williams Lake area in 1957 as a salesman and small business operator. He was very much a part of the community from the beginning, he was a founding member of the Williams Lake Square Dancers and a member of the Kinsmen and the K-40. These associations provided many lifelong friends, great stories and memories. As time moved on, he was not one to sit and do nothing, so he volunteered as the handyman for the Williams Lake Seniors Activity Center where he could stay out of Elsie's way.
In addition to all the business adventures, camping and fishing were also an important part of his life. He had stories about good lakes, bad lakes, and everything in between. These outdoor adventures took them North to the Arctic Circle as well as east to Newfoundland. His memory was fantastic, and he could tell stories and show you places out west where all or some of his stories took place.
