In loving memory ~
Olive Michelle Danyluk of Victoria passed away on September 11, 2022 at the age of 96 years. Olive was predeceased by her husband Michael Danyluk in January, 2005. Olive is survived by her two children David Danyluk of Calgary and Jennifer Foord (nee Danyluk) of Victoria and 5 grandchildren (Sharene, Laurel, Benjamin, Ryan, Steven) and 10 great grandchildren.
Olive grew up in London, England and experienced the bombing of London during World War II. She met her future husband (Mike) a Canadian soldier. They were wed at the conclusion of the war on August 19th 1945 and remained in London managing a bakery until 1947. Mike and Olive immigrated to Canada to begin the next phase of their lives together where they raised two children. The family eventually settled in Ardrossan, Alberta for the next 20 years.
Olive was active within the community and volunteered as a Girl Guide leader.
Mike and Olive left Ardrossan in 1972 and moved to Summerland, BC after both their children had left home to start their own lives. Olive continued volunteering in Summerland at "Mother's Morning Out" for quite some time and saw two generations of children come thru the doors each week and at the local pool with the RECOPE program. Olive was also active in the local badminton hall and participated in the BC Seniors Games bringing home three medals. She took up synchronized swimming in her later years.
Olive remained in Summerland after Mike passed away and eventually moved into Angus Place only after she had received several notifications of space available. Olive decided in November, 2018, that it would be better to be closer to her daughter, Jennifer in Victoria, and consequently moved to HighGate Lodge. Olive's health started to be problem in early 2022 and moved to Mount St. Mary's Hospital for extended care and was there until her passing.
Her ashes will be interred next to Mike at Canyon View Cemetery, Summerland
