In loving memory ~

Norm passed away after a brief illness on Jan 22, 2024, at the Chilliwack General Hospital where was born 79 years ago.

The youngest of twelve, he was the only of his siblings to be born in BC after his parents, Peter and Mary moved to Chilliwack after living many years in Saskatchewan.

His early education years were spent at St. Mary's Primary school, then graduating from Chilliwack Senior High School in 1962. A restless and adventurous young man, he left to work the gold mines in the Yukon for a few years, and upon returning to Chilliwack, spent all his substantial earnings on "cars, women and booze" (He claimed) until meeting his wife of 52 yrs.,Nancy.

After settling down with two young children, he worked at a local Tire shop (Tiretown) then went on to become a BC Corrections Officer. During this time, he also exercised his entrepreneurial spirit by operating a couple of small side businesses.

After his retirement, he took up a 'Hobby' of driving Taxi and became a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society, shuttling patients back and forth to their appointments in Vancouver and Abbotsford, aswellasbeingaveryactivemember of the Cottonwood Village Complex Clubhouse.

Norbert will be greatly missed by all, including his many nephews and nieces who were very close to him. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his two children Kyla and Jason (Kari) and three grandchildren, Danielle Huon, and Isla as well as his brother Ed and sister, Sr. Loretta.

We would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff in ER, ICU and 3 North for their compassion and efforts in caring for Norbert.
