In loving memory ~
It is with the heaviest of hearts we share the loss of Nick.
Nick was born premature in the CR hospital, only to be urgently sent to the I.C.U. in Victoria, where our healthcare heroes saved his life. He was just 4 lbs when we brought him home. Nick struggled with his health most of his life. Diagnosed with colitis at 24, this would eventually take a heavy toll on his mental health.
Nick was the youngest son to Danny Charlton and Dianne Charlton and Dave Gaucher. He was also the little brother to Ben Charlton. He had 3 half-sisters; Danielle, Rose, and Dawn; and one half-brother Daniel; many aunties, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.
Most importantly though, he was blessed with 3 beautiful children, Ava-Marie, Evan, and Verity. He adored them and even on his sickest days they brought sunshine into his life.
Nick loved the outdoors, especially fishing—ocean, lake, river—it didn't matter, it was where he could be calm.
When Nick met Monica Neratini, he fell in love. She meant the world to him, and when his babies were small it was the happiest time of his life.
But as his health deteriorated, so too did his relationship with Monica. This became unbearable to Nick... Hug those you love, often.
Please join us in remembering the life of Nick on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Maritime Heritage Center.
Please make donations to the Colitis Association.
