In Loving Memory ~

With heavy hearts we announce that a long time Cariboo cowboy took his last ride.

Neil spent his life in the Cariboo. Born in Kamloops to Alex and Harriet Morrison, he was the youngest of three sons.

Growing up Neil lived on many ranches in the area including the 105 Mile Ranch House that is now part of the 108 Heritage Site. He learned early the value of a hard day's work and the importance of caring for the animals.

In 1959 he headed to RCMP training in Regina. He was very proud to have been selected but due to injury was unable to complete training camp. During his time there he formed special bonds with his troopmates that he maintained throughout his life.

He married Gail Odian in November of 1968 in 100 Mile where they were active community members. Neil was the first 4-H leader in 100 Mile and spent many years working with the Little Britches Rodeo and Outriders associations. In 1981 Neil and Gail moved their family to 111 Mile and established their own ranch.

Neil was a fierce competitor and took great pride in his sporting achievements especially being part of the Lumbermen's Men Softball team. In later years Neil enjoyed coaching and spent many hours with his children at the ball park and hockey rink.

Neil loved riding the range and sharing the experience with his family and special friends. He was an excellent horseman and trained more horses than we can count. He passed on this knowledge by simply saying, 'Keep one leg on either side and your mind in the middle'.

He loved telling stories and talking about old times. His greatest joys in life were his family and the ranch. It was fitting that he was surrounded by both when our cowboy rode away.

Neil is survived by his wife Gail, children Angela (Wayne), Tracy (Kevin), Glen (Krystal) and his beloved grandchildren: Abigail, Stella, Ryan and Macy.

No service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Cariboo Health Foundation.
