January 28, 1932 – June 2, 2022
It is with incredible sadness that the family of Neeltje (Nellie) Wieringa announce her passing on Thursday June 2nd, 2022. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her son Jake (Cindy), daughter Grace Wieringa and son Perry (Theresa), grandchildren Wade, Sarah and Meagan Wieringa and extended family Ed and Sandy Lucas.
Nellie was predeceased by husband Douwe (Don) Wieringa in 1989.
Mom was born on January 28, 1932 in Sneek, Netherlands. She was raised in Friesland which is where she met the love of her life and husband Don.
Mom’s passion was the water, so when they immigrated to Canada in 1952 they chose the interior because of all the lakes.
Mom and Dad moved to Armstrong, BC with their children in 1970, where they operated a small dairy farm for many years. In her spare time mom loved to swim, play games with friends and spend time with her family.
Mom will be remembered for her vivacious character, her strong-willed personality, her sense of humour and her loud and infectious belly laughs.
Nellie will be missed dearly by all that knew her, but we are comforted to know that she is with her Lord and Savior whom she loved so much.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vancouver Children’s Hospital in honour of Nellie are preferred.
