Nancy Laura LeBourdais

June 19, 1925 – August 21, 2021
Nancy was born to Alfred and Gladys Dorman in Vancouver and graduated from St Paul’s hospital nursing program in 1946. She worked in Portland, Oregon for a time, but mostly spent her working career in North Vancouver, Quesnel and Williams Lake. Nancy was one of the first nurses to work at Deni House.
Nancy was an active member of the Horsefly community in her retirement. She was the fall fair president, acted and sang in the Horsefly follies musical theater group, a member of the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation group, the Williams Lake conservation group and rode on floats in the stampede parades.
With her friend Nora Nichols they protested the closure of Deni house, travelling to Victoria and wearing hats and shawls became two of the raging grannies on the steps of the parliament buildings.
Nancy was predeceased by her daughter Lorraine, son Louis and husband Jerry. She had four children; Louis (Lainie, Ron), Linda (George) Raymond (Maureen) and Lorraine (Robbie), 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, and lived a full life until the age of 96.
Thanks go out to Dr Magnuson, and the staff of Age Care (formally Cariboo Place) for care during her last few months.
A small gathering of relatives and close friends will be held in September. Donations in Nancy’s memory can be made to Deni House as was her request.
