October 13, 1959 - July 20, 2023
In loving memory ~
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Oliver Dobie, a lifelong resident of Vernon, passed away July 20, 2023.
Mike was born in Vernon, to parents Edgar and Connie Dobie, on October 13, 1959.
Mike graduated from Vernon Secondary School in 1977 and went on to pursue a career in the Automotive Industry. He became a Certified Automotive Technician. Mike and his father ran a successful business for 11 years, the Dobie Shell Service. When Edgar retired, they sold the business. Mike worked at Subaru and Polson Auto before settling in at Watkin Motors. He spent the next 13 years there and became a Senior Automotive Technician. His co-workers were like family and they shared many memorable times together
After back surgery, Mike decided to change his career. He became a Transit Operator, working for First Canada. Once again, his co-workers became family and he built lasting friendships during his 15 years of service.
Mike was a strong individual who enjoyed skiing, hiking, cycling, camping, and pretty much anything outdoors, especially yard work. He loved to get out on his motorcycle. He also had a passion for golf. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mike leaves behind his wife Janet, children Lindsay, Keenan (Sarah), Kayla, and grandchildren Peyton, Oaklyn, Charlie, and Oliver.
He is survived by his brothers Edgar Jr. and Roger, sister-in-law Carol, their families, in-laws, extended family, a number of cousins including the Vancouver Dobies, aunts, uncle, his brothers in golf, and friends for life!
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Donald, and his brother, David.
A Celebration of Life will be held September 10, 2023, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Lakers Clubhouse, address: 7000 Cummins Rd, Vernon, B.C.
