He will be forever missed by his beloved wife Ann, sons Phillip (Catherine) and Andrew and all his grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Anne Martin in England. Mike rec'd his apprenticeship as an instrument fitter from Bristol Sidleys in England and worked on the developing Concord engine.
He entered the RAF and was trained as a radar technician. He came to Canada in 1963 and went to work at CBC as a maintenance technician. He went on to work at Scarborough Cable, CTV and City TV.
In 1976 he was head hunted and offered the job in Vancouver to build CKVU 13 (Global TV). He got it built in 119 days in the middle of a labour strike and brought it in under budget. It was the first TV station in Canada to go on air in the black.
