In Loving Memory ~

Mike died peacefully at Nanaimo Regional District Hospital after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne, children Andrew (Raelene), Sally (Fiona), John (Kerstin) and four grandchildren, Donovan, Allison, Sophie and Patrick.

Born in South Africa, Mike moved the family to Winnipeg, Canada in 1981 before moving to Vancouver Island 8 years later. A farmer, for the first half of his life, Mike switched to real estate - first in the Cowichan Valley and eventually retiring from Royal LePage in Qualicum in 2008.

A man of action, Mike loved to help people and to have a project to work on. He enjoyed all forms of nature. He was adventurous, and enjoyed travel - often to out of the way places, including the arctic.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped Mike at each stage of his illness, with a special thank you to the staff at Nanaimo Regional District hospital. During the last few months, the care that Mike received on the Courtyard transitional unit at the hospital was exceptional. Thank you one and all.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at St Mark's church on Thursday May 9 at 2.00pm.

Should you choose to do so, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia would be welcome. www.alzheimer.ca/bc.en
