In Loving Memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maurice Le Tissier. Dad passed away peacefully after a few weeks stay in the hospital. He led a vibrant life until his late 80s when the effects of dementia slowed him down.
As was common at the time, Moe left home at an early age and entered the workforce at 14. He joined the Navy at 20 and stayed in the service for almost 10 years. Through the service, he attained his RIA certificate and worked for a number of firms, both in Canada and internationally, in varying financial capacities.
Moe loved making his own wine and thoroughly enjoyed the testing of it, possibly many times over, so for those of you who knew him, if you find yourself craving a little nip around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, feel assured that Moe will now be joining you in spirit.
He loved his morning walks and was often recognized in the Hammond Bay Pipers area and the Bay Street and Departure Bay Road neighbourhoods.
Moe was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Nellie; half-brother Neville; sisters Bev, Norma, and Eileen; wife Dorothy; and long-time partner Florida Clemiss.
He is survived by sons Shane (Rhonda) and Maurice, daughter Lynette (Tom), grandchildren Jasmine, Elizabeth, Erin, Conor, Brient, Elizabeth, and Gareth, great-grandchildren Thea and Logan, and sister Yvonne.
We would like to thank the NRGH staff on floors 5 and 6, the transition unit, and the palliative care unit for their care and understanding during Moe's last days.
As per his request, Moe will be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday, October 21, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church Hall, 315 Fitzwilliam Street, with parking access off of Wesley Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Moe's name to the Palliative Care unit at Nanaimo Regional Hospital.
