In Loving Memory ~
"I had a good life!" Maureen exclaimed many times in the days before her passing.
A fourth-generation Courtenay resident, Maureen Isabel Morrison was born to Kathryn "Cassie" Day and Roy Morrison at St. Joseph's Hospital. Maureen was delighted to be included in The Lake Trail Living History Project where she shared tales about the early way of life in this area, the determination and resourcefulness of the citizens, and how her family had helped forge the City of Courtenay.
Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William "Bill" Glowasky, daughter Elaine (Vaughn) Michaud, grandparents Jabez Day and Eva "Mom" Hardie, Hugh Morrison and Annie (McQuillan) Sugrue, Maureen is lovingly remembered by companion Fred Blackburn, daughter Lynne (John) Allen, sisters Marguerite Morrison, MaryAnne Hayton and Molly White, grandchildren Michelle (Ian) Jensen, Justin (Joanne) Makasoff, Christina Makasoff, Kelly (Teresa) Michaud, Christi Michaud, Thomas (Rachel) Allen and Nicholas (Nicole) Allen, great-grandchildren Zachary, Sabrina, Christopher, Brendan, Avery, Kelcey, Brynlee, Harper, Leena, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many good friends.
In 1983, Maureen became The Comox Valley Queen of Aloe Vera and after 40 years of working with Pro-Ma Systems (Grace Cosmetics), she remained honoured by the friendships bestowed on her by Don and Lucille Flint, Val and Sandra Fittler, and numerous others.
She is fondly remembered for her quick wit, kindness, and beauty, through the many hours she generously volunteered with community groups such as the Girl Guides, Sea Rangers, Canadian Daughters, Native Son's Hall, Ukrainian Society, Comox Valley Women's Business Network, Comox Valley Home Based Business Association, Comox Community Market, Habitat for Humanity and Morrison Creek Stream Keepers.
Her final days were spent surrounded by relatives and friends who kept her last days full of light and laughter.
Her parting words of advice were, "Enjoy life...you only have one!"
Maureen's Celebration of Life Tea Party will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Moe's Cottage, 430 Arden Road (off 1st Street) Courtenay, B.C.
