Matthew Antoine Hobbs of Armstrong, BC passed away October 25, 1995 at Yankee Flats at age 18. He was recently found after forest fires swept through the area. Matthew was born in Burns Lake, BC moving to Armstrong, with his family, when he was five. He attended Armstrong Elementary, Highland Park Elementary and PVSS – graduating in 1994. As a child he enjoyed soccer, motorbiking and other outdoor activities. He also took part in 223 Red Lion Squadron Air Cadets. With family he traveled to Europe, around western Canada and the United States; he lived in Mexico & Pender Island for a short time. He is remembered for his creative stories and unique artwork. He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Frederick & Antoinette Hobbs, of Cambridge England; paternal uncle, John Hobbs of Armstrong, and maternal grandmother, Edna Neurauter of Burns Lake, BC. He is survived by parents, Martin Hobbs and Brenda Hobbs of Armstrong; siblings, Deborah of Calgary, AB, Nathan of Armstrong, BC; maternal grandfather George Neurauter of Burns Lake, BC; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial service was held at Meggaits’ Farm October 26, 2002 and burial was held at Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery on Friday March 19, 2004 with immediate family in attendance.
