On Saturday morning of August 19, 2023, Marie (Mary) McDonald passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hillside Village, Salmon Arm, BC.
Marie was born October 29, 1926, in Hodgson, Manitoba and named Mary Szkwarok which later was changed to Swark. She was one of eight children. She was predeceased by her parents, Annie and Stanley, her brothers, Joe, Roy, Frank and sister Tess and her husband, Alex MacDonald. She is survived by her sisters, Nell and Lil and brother Johnny (Lorraine), her daughter Dawn Scott (Russ), stepdaughters Bonni-Jean (Don), Alexandria (Bill), Beulah (Jeff) and Hughena (Bob), three grandsons, Mason (Afrooz), Wesley (Rina) and Hardie Schmitt, four great grandchildren, Lydia, Eli, Saya and Kai and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Marie lived most of her life in Campbell River, BC, working as a dispatcher. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing and playing bingo as well as volunteering in the ladies’ auxiliary in the Legion and Eagles. She moved to Salmon Arm in 2018 and her last five years were enjoyed with drives, shopping and walks with her daughter, get-togethers with close family members and having the comraderies of residents and staff in Hillside Village.
