March 4, 1931 - September 11, 2022
In loving memory ~
Marie passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Rosewood Village with her family by her side.
Marie was born in Nelson and moved to Rossland shortly thereafter where she spent most of her life, marrying her sweetheart, Bob, on October 7, 1950 and raising their three children. Bob and Marie moved to Trail in 1993.
Marie worked at the Co-op Grocery Store on Washington Street in Rossland prior to starting to raise a family. After children started arriving, she embraced the role of stay-at-home mom and all the duties that came with that. Outside the home she was involved with St. Andrews United Church teaching Sunday School for many years and the MacLean School PTA. Bob and Marie built 3 homes over their 60-year marriage.
Marie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, attending many events in support of their interests and talents and also sharing many special moments with them baking, gardening, crafting, talking about the latest TV show, what the Queen was up to or the old times in Rossland.
A special time in her life was when her cousin visited from Scotland.
Marie was cast into the role of caregiver for Bob, a role she humbly accepted, allowing them to continue to share life together in their home.
Marie will be forever missed and forever remembered by her three children; Bob (Fiona) Lloyd, Kathy (Stan) Bowcock, David Lloyd, daughter-in-law Frances Lloyd, her five grandchildren; Michael (Liz) Bowcock, Mark (Jill) Lloyd, Alison (Fabian) Esser, Jessica Lloyd, Kristen Lloyd and her six great-grandchildren; Jayden, Rylin, Peyton, Lincoln, Jaxson, Malia and her brother Norman (Ellen) Hatlevik as well as many extended family members.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in 2013, her two brothers Bud and Gerald and her sister-in-law Carol.
A Service of Remembrance with interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Thursday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. with Elizabeth Berglund as Celebrant. Kole Roth of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
